Income Tax

The City’s municipal income tax rate is 2% on all wages and profits earned within the City limits.  Residents are allowed a credit of 87.5% up to 1.75% of taxes paid to the city where they work.  All residents over 18 years of age must file a city tax return, regardless of whether taxes are owed.

The Regional Income Tax Agency (R.I.T.A.) collects and maintains the tax records for the City.  All municipal income tax filings and any questions should be directed to the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) at (440) 526-0900, toll free at (800) 860-7482. Residents can also click here to visit RITA's website and address their concerns online.

Representatives from RITA are available at the Mentor Municipal Center, 8500 Civic Center Blvd. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
